What to know before you go, and how to stay online once you land.

Iceland takes you through Reykjavík, the Golden Circle and the Ring Road. A local connection turns each of those stops into something you can navigate, book and share as you go.

Network coverage in Iceland

Our Iceland eSIM connects to the local Nova and Síminn networks, so you get 5G and 4G data on the same masts residents use. The Ring Road is well covered, but the Highlands and F-roads are not. Download maps before heading inland. The Blue Lagoon and Jökulsárlón are covered; Landmannalaugar and the F-roads are not.

How much data do you need?

Budget 500 MB to 1 GB per day for maps, messaging and the occasional video call. If you plan to navigate continuously or work on the road, unlimited works out simpler than topping up.

Validity starts when your eSIM is activated, not when you buy it. You can purchase in advance and activate before departure.

After activation, the validity period continues even if you use no data or turn the line off. Check the remaining validity in data tracking.

A fixed-data plan includes a total data allowance for its validity period. An unlimited plan may include a daily high-speed allowance, followed by data at reduced speed.

Before buying, check the daily high-speed allowance, the speed after that allowance and when it renews. Conditions depend on the selected plan.

Unless the product page says otherwise, a travel eSIM is data-only. It does not include a local number for standard calls or SMS.

You can make internet calls and send messages through your apps. Calls or SMS using your usual SIM remain subject to your home carrier’s charges.

Before departure, connect your phone to Wi-Fi. Open your eSIM delivery email or retrieve the installation details from data tracking.

In your phone settings, choose “Add eSIM”. Scan the QR code or enter the manual installation details, then confirm. Name the line “Travel” so you can recognise it.

Select your travel eSIM for data and disable data roaming on your home SIM to avoid your home carrier’s data charges. The number of lines usable at once depends on the phone.

Yes, if your plan includes personal hotspot. Check eSIM details, then enable “Personal Hotspot” or “Mobile Hotspot” in your phone settings.

Connect your other devices to this hotspot. Their data usage is deducted from your eSIM plan, and any sharing limits still apply.

A fixed-data plan stops providing internet when its allowance or validity ends. For unlimited plans, the high-speed and reduced-speed conditions apply during the validity period.

Unused data does not automatically roll over. Check whether a top-up is available or choose a new plan. Your travel plan does not renew automatically.
